With the emergence of Nate McLouth, the Pirates look to be only a few players away from a wining team. The Bucs need major help at third base, and their starting rotation is ways away from excellent.
Trading Steve Pearce, who many consider their top hitting prospect should get some value in return, maybe an up and coming young arm. The Pirates have a log jam in the outfield with Bay, Nady, McLouth, and quickly improving Andrew McCutchen moving up the minors. Pearce might struggle to be a power hitter in the majors, as of now he is striking out too much, and his HR's per at bats has gone in a negative direction with each step in the minors. Trading Pearce followed by a trade of either Nady or Bay, should be able to net a starting pitcher and third baseman. The time is now to start creating a team around McLouth & McCutchen.
