Valley High School - Installing New Turf, Ready by Ford City Game

According to the Valley New Dispatch, Valley High school will be installing new artificial turf at their athletic stadium. They expect the field to be ready for the football home opener against Ford City. Valley will also play their soccer games on the field.

I've been anti-fake grass especially at the pro and college level, but it's making a lot of sense for most high schools. With the evolution of field turf over last decade, which a great leap forward from the carpet like turf, aka Three Rivers, the playing surface is not as dangerous. Also another big factor is local high schools can't afford to have a professional in charge of field maintenance. Hence most grass fields become far from ideal especially as more games are played on them. It's also nice to see the lines CLEARLY marked on turf fields. The biggest reason school are going for this is the versitily to host multiple events. Once you start playing soccer, football, having more practices, and other events the initial cost is easier to be recovered over time.
