Nice to Meet You Monday!

This it the first Monday of the "Nice to Meet You Monday" Series and I am excited to introduce one of my favorite blogger buddies Lyndsay from SimplyLyndsay!

What are five words to best describe your personality?
Rational, Genuine, Optimistic, Reserved, Persistent

Favorite hobbies when not blogging?
In the summer, I’m always at the beach when I’m not working. Otherwise, I’m a big fan of anything and everything “fluff” – chick lit, ABC soaps, and romantic comedies. I love reading or watching anything that has a little romance thrown in. I’m also an avid sports fan. In the Fall, I always have football (college and pro) on the TV Saturdays and Sundays, and I can’t wait for March Madness to start in a few weeks!

What made you decide to create a blog?
I think it was mostly curiosity. I didn’t know a lot about the blogging world so I started reading a few here and there, and I kind of got hooked. I liked the idea of connecting with others and getting a peak at their lives and giving them a peak at mine as well. I also like to write, but my job (I’m an engineer) only calls for technical writing. I thought a blog would be a creative outlet for more of a freer form of writing.

What inspired your blog name
I wanted my blog to be about me. I wasn’t going for a theme of any sort. A lot of blogs I’ve read are dedicated to fashion or do-it-yourself projects, and I couldn’t think of just one area that was “me.” I just wanted my blog to be about whatever I was thinking and whatever I liked – simply me. So, Simply Lyndsay was born.

How old is your blog?
Technically, it’s about a year old because I actually started my blog last March. However, I didn’t last too long on my first stint. I think I jumped in head first without really knowing what I was doing. After a long break, I thought about it again, and I recently started up again at the end of January.

Describe your own personal style.
Classic – I always buy the latest trends, but I find that usually stick to the styles that are more timeless. I love getting dressed up and wearing fancy things, but ultimately, my favorite thing to wear is a pair of jeans. That’s when I’m most comfortable.

What would be your go-to outfit on any given day?
Black turtleneck and my skinny jeans with black boots. (In the summer, just substitute the turtleneck for a black summer top and the boots with sandals.)

Favorite item in your closet right now?
Dark wash, Zelda skinny jeans from Express

What items are you complete lusting over and wishing for? No spending limits, it can be anything!!
It’s funny. This is the question I’ve had the hardest time with! You would think that it would be the easiest. I guess there isn’t anything that big that I really want (or I just have trained myself not to want anything too big!) If I had to name something I really want, it would be a pair of diamond stud earrings.

Who is your style icon?
I don’t think I have one person in particular. I like to take a little from here and there, but I usually always love what Carrie Underwood, Reese Witherspoon, and Katie Holmes wear. They have that trendy but classic girl next door look that I usually go for.

A funny story about Carrie being one of my style icons…a few years ago, I was reading a story online about one of her concerts, and it had a picture of her in a red t-shirt. I laughed when I saw it because I had just bought the same shirt from Express. I’m not sure why, but I saved the picture!

If you read a bunch of blogs, what are your favorite posts topics?
A lot of different topics pique my interest, but the ones I usually read deal with fashion, hair/make-up trends, reality TV, book/movie reviews, or blogger’s personal stories. Some of my favorite posts are about blogger’s personal love stories. I’m a sap for romance!

What types of blogs are you drawn to? (i.e. DIY, crafting, fashion, home décor design)
Fashion and just personal blogs

Name 5 of your favorite blogs right now! Newly discovered or old faithfuls!
Kendall – Our Neu Life
Mandy – Hippy Chic
Kim – Pink, Pearls, and Polka Dots
Sarah – Waiting on the Butterflies
Jessica – Running Through Life in High Heels

Thanks you so much Lyndsay for being the first in this new series for March! It was great getting to know more about you personally and as a blogger!! Loved that picture of you and Carrie in the same shirt...don't you love when celebs just happen to have something that is already in YOUR closet! I love that!

Looking forward to checking out the blogs that you read as well, this is a great way to get some good recommendations!
