Barcelona vs Chivas in Miami August 3, 2011

The rumored game between Barcelona and AC Milan was just that, a rumor. Instead Miami will host FC Barcelona vs Chivas of Guadalajara at Sun Life Stadium! A very exciting game for all of us in South Florida.
NEW YORK -- This summer’s lineup of heavy-hitting international matches just got a little heavier.

On Monday, Major League Soccer and CAA announced the addition of three global powerhouses—FC Barcelona, Club América, and CD Guadalajara—to the 2011 Herbalife World Football Challenge.

Also announced was Herbalife’s title sponsorship for the event, which kicks off with the New England Revolution vs. Manchester United on July 13 and also includes Real Madrid taking on the LA Galaxy, the MLS side which sports Herbalife on their jerseys. Herbalife is also a sponsor of Barcelona.

The Blaugrana, favorites to win their third straight Spanish title and finalists in this year’s UEFA Champions League, will face Chivas at 8 pm ET on Wednesday, August 3, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

They will then travel to Dallas, where they will take on Club América at Cowboys Stadium on Saturday, August 6. Kick off is at 4 pm ET.

These two games are the continuation of Barça’s US tour, which begins with the previously announced clash with Manchester United on July 30 at FedEx Field outside of Washington, DC. The meeting will be a rematch of the upcoming UEFA Champions League final, which takes place May 28 in London.

Further games for América and Chivas will be announced later, MLS and CAA said.

Miami MLS Champions League Final watch party, MLS Miami videos and more...

Our good friend and Miami Ultras member Brian Corey has started a new MLS Meetup group with the intention of catching big MLS games and tonight happens to be one of those days as Real Salt Lake will attempt to be the first MLS team to win a Champions League Final. Come join us at Mickey Byrnes tonight, Wednesday at 10 PM. Please come join us and join this awesome group: http://www.meetup.com/Miami-Major-League-Soccer-MLS-Fan-Club/ .

Talk about MLS... I've never won anything before so when I received an envelope in the mail the other day I was surprised I had won a Major league Soccer T-Shirt. Here is how I won it:

Major League SoccerHey Ed,
Thanks for pledging to watch Tuesday night's opening match of the MLS season. I'm happy to report that you were one of the first 2,000 fans to take the pledge, so your free t-shirt is on its way!
Russ Findlay
Chief Marketing Officer
Major League Soccer
MLS asked the winners to post a picture of yourself with the T-Shirt on so I decided to wear the T-Shirt to a Strikers game and sent it in. MLS put the picture up on their facebook page! Check it out below:
The push for MLS to Miami continues and it is being talked about in Bigsoccer and other forums not to mention blogs and other media.
Following are videos of recent mentions of MLS Miami, both in Spanish. This one is from ESPN's Jorge Ramos y su banda. They even mention the Miami Ultras.

This video is from an MLS game transmitted on Galavision, one of the Univision channels. They constantly mention MLS Miami in their broadcasts.

Barcelona vs Chivas in Miami August 3, 2011

We have just confirmed via Jorge Ramos y Su Banda ESPN Radio that Barcelona will play Chivas in Miami on August 3, 2011.
The rumor had been that Barcelona would meet AC Milan, but it turns out that announcement was premature. No deal was made so instead it will be Mexico's most followed team against European giant FC Barcelona.
You can see further proof on their Facebook page:
We will update as soon as we get ticket information.
If you want further information you can join the event on Facebook

Please note there has been no official announcement.

Play for Anton Soccer Tournament Saturday April 9, 2011.

Today I'd like to reach out to the soccer community for a noble cause. Our good friends at Soccer 5 at Kendall Soccer Park are helping out Jasmine Aleman from FIU and her fellow students who are putting on a tournament at Soccer 5 in order to raise funds for a life saving operation for a close friend at FIU who was injured in a horrific car accident.

We here at FMB hope all those that read this will come out this coming Saturday April 9, 2011 starting at 9:30 AM to play some soccer and make donations for Anton Xavier Clifford. You can read more about his story at www.pray4anton.com

I also need to mention Scott Georgeson who is gifting the use of the Soccer 5 fields for the tournament where all proceeds go towards the cause for Anton. All those mentioned want to put on a great event and get as many soccer players behind this knowing that the tournament isn't just about winning a trophy, it can save someone's life. Again. all proceeds go towards Anton's operation.

For further details please read the below flyer:
You can also call 1-888-575-2976 to sign up and reserve your space. Please remember to mention it's for Anton or contact Jasmine Aleman. Email: play4anton@gmail.com

MLS Miami is not dead! Local Soccer Fans want the 20th MLS Expansion spot.

South Florida will not give up it's claim in obtaining the 20th spot for MLS expansion. Miami's Local Soccer Fan group the Miami Ultras have started a campaign to gain attention and find possible investors who believe in this market.

It begins with the launch of their very own website http://www.mlsmiamibid.com/

The Ultras are also reaching out through twitter ( http://twitter.com/mlsmiami ) and facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/MLS-Miami-Bid/123889570963495
) So join these groups to be informed on the latest news concerning Miami's MLS bid.

But there is more... Selected pubs and bars throughout South Florida have come on board willing to support this cause and will cooperate by posting MLS Miami posters and fliers that will help gain awareness. These same bars and pubs will host World Cup matches and will be announced shortly.

MLS Futbolito
To further the awareness campaign for the MLS Miami Bid, the Ultras will be passing out fliers and reaching out to the community at the MLS Futbolito tournament by asking folks to sign up for Miami MLS Season Ticket Dedications. A “season ticket dedication” is basically a pledge that if Miami does get a Major League Soccer team, you will buy season tickets. (It's only a promise) We need as many season ticket dedications as possible to enhance support for our case of getting an MLS team in the near future.

MLS Futbolito is the official 4 vs 4 tournament of Major League Soccer. It consists of a fun soccer tournament that involves 13 communities across the country. It is a day-long event which offers food, music and fun activities for the whole family. Miami's version of this event will take place at Kendall Soccer Park located at 8011 SW 127th Ave Miami, FL 33183. The event takes place this Sunday May 23, 2010 at 9 AM. For more information and directions to this event go HERE

The Miami Ultras want you!

If you are a die hard soccer fan and you are hungry for Soccer then join the Ultras! So what are you waiting for? Get involved! Be a part of the soccer movement in South Florida. It's free, just show up to our events and we'll welcome you to the family. We want people who will STAND and SING for the DURATION of the game, show their colors, bring original flags, give our team the home field advantage, and ENERGIZE the rest of the crowd! JOIN HERE

Where do we start? At Miami FC games, our USSF Div 2 Soccer team.
The next game will be at Lockhart Stadium in Ft Lauderdale this Saturday May 22 at 7:30 PM against the NSC Minnesota Stars. The tailgate begins at 5 PM and as always come and join the Ultras.
The Ultras support all soccer in South Florida!

Coming up: We will explore why Miami? MLS needs to expand to South Florida in order to have a true foothold on this country. Miami over other expansion cities and why it makes sense...

ONE, The Story of a Goal at the Miami International Film Festival

The Soccer movie of the month will not be displayed on the blog itself like the last few times. You'll have to buy a ticket and watch it at a theater and I'll tell you where.
As some of you might know the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) is going on right now and for those that don't know what I'm talking about:
It's a world-class platform for film and filmmakers promoting Miami as an educational and international film destination. The Festival presents the best of emerging and established film to the local and international community within an educational framework.
For us Soccer fans I will have to recommend ONE, The Story of a Goal (UNO, La Historia de un Gol) by director Carlos Moreno and Gerardo Muyshondt. Run time is 102 minute in Spanish with English subtitles
Here is a synopsis:
In the early 1980s, El Salvador was experiencing the beginning of what would be a harsh 12-year-long civil war. It was also in this time that a group of Salvadoran fútbol players emerged to unite their entire nation with their game. This tiny Central American country’s national team achieved an unforgettable qualification to the 1982 World Cup in Spain, where against the world's strongest soccer lineup they would try to score their first World Cup goal ever. With a homeland ripped apart by conflict and maligned in the international press as a haven for guns and guerrillas, their team’s selection provided hope for all Salvadorans. However, they were defeated by Hungary 10-1 in the first match, and in this game, history’s worst World Cup defeat ever, El Salvador scored their only goal ever in this type of competition. This insightful and honest film recounts a David-and-Goliath story of great hope and terrible disappointment.
You can see this movie at 7:45 PM on Thursday, March 11 at the Regal South Beach 9 or at 9:30 PM on Friday, March 12 at the Tower Theater 2 for more information go HERE

We did it! Miami makes the final 18 cities that will host the World Cup games.
Also worth mentioning is the inclusion of Tampa. The other Florida cities, Jacksonville and WC94 host Orlando did not make the final cut.
Other cities eliminated are Chicago, Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit, Oakland, St. Louis and San Francisco.

Miami's World Cup bid needs your support as deadline approaches

It's come down to this folks... This coming Tuesday the US World Cup bid committee will cut down the list of Host cities from 27 cities down to 18. All this as the U.S. looks to get either the 2018 or 2022 World Cup.

Miami Fans have come out and supported this bid like never before and it is a good sign that almost 11,000 people have signed up already.
Miami is currently in 5th place. We need everyone to continue supporting this cause.
Go HERE:
http://www.gousabid.com/city/local/miami-fl/

Here is the list of cities as of today:

Seattle 19280
Atlanta 14775
Houston 13001
Philadelphia 10847
Miami 10794
Kansas City 10726
Indianapolis 10668
Tampa 7799
Dallas 7723
Cleveland 7592
San Diego 5613
Jacksonville 5534
Charlotta 5291
Baltimore 5237
Orlando 5200
Boston 4901
Chicago 4848
New York/New Jersey 4764
Oakland 4452
Nashville 4404
Denver 3763
Washington DC 4145
St Louis 3700
Los Angeles 3326
Detroit 2008
San Francisco 1281
Phoenix 1178

It's apparent some cities have not campaigned as they must be assuming they are shoo-ins. Notable are the low numbers for major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York/New Jersey.

Miami fans were over looked in the last World Cup held in the U.S. when Florida was represented by Orlando. I remember driving up to see the games at the Citrus Bowl. We can see this time Miami Fans don't want to make the drive up as Miami is way ahead of the other Florida cities.
This is a sign that Miami does support Soccer, these same people should be the target of Miami FC and any Miami MLS bid. We ask these same people who support the Miami World Cup bid to join Miami Soccer Groups such as the Miami Ultras by going to their site to be updated on any soccer games and events that you can attend.

Join them at the following sites: MiamiSoccerFan.com
on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7961678958 If you want professional Soccer in South Florida and want Major League Soccer back in this town then please support Miami FC.

Weekend of Soccer in South Florida: Gold Cup, Miami Kickers and Miami FC

Who said Miami was not a soccer town? You see games being played all over South Florida, but fans are known to be fickle and demanding when it comes to watching a game live. Well, this weekend they get a little of everything! Friday, Saturday and Sunday will have what I call "A little Soccer Heaven"!
Word has it the Miami Ultras will have a presence in all three events. Be sure to look for the guys in the scarves and say hello!

Gold Cup is coming to South Florida this Friday July 10 at Florida International University Stadium. It will be a double header that will see Costa Rica go against Canada at 7 p.m. and El Salvador vs. Jamaica at 9 p.m. For ticket information go to The Gold Cup site but hurry, the stadium can only fit about 20,000 people so tickets will go fast! For full coverage check out the Kartik Report.

The Miami Kickers FC continue to top the WPSL Sunshine Division. The Kickers traveled to West Palm Beach to take on Palm Beach United this past Friday, July 3rd. but lost their first game of the season, falling to United 3-2. Read more at the Miami Ultras site.
Come out and support the Kickers at their next home game this Saturday July 11th 7 pm at American Heritage High School in Plantation. Miami will take on the Clearwater Galactics as they look to remain leaders of their group.

Last but not least; lets get out there this Sunday July 12th as the Miami FC Blues will take on the MLS bound Vancouver Whitecaps at FIU Stadium. The game is set to start at 6 pm with an Ultras tailgate starting at 4 pm. The Beer at the tailgate is FREE! Yes, I said FREE! So get out there and support Soccer in South Florida!

Soccer Roof Top in Miami, with pictures and video...

This past Friday our good friend at Miami FC, Ignacio Rodriguez invited us over to Soccer Roof Top for a game of 6 on 6 and I must say it was a great experience! To think we only played one hour. But it was enough for me to realize I need to go again.
Surrounded by high rises and just off Brickell, the view is spectacular and though playing on a synthetic field it only takes a few minutes before you get a hang of how to play on this surface. The field is 56 feet by 110 feet and you play caged in so you don't lose the ball. There are 2 fields but you'll need to call in to reserve just in case. But enough with the writing, let the pictures speak for themselves.

Lockhart Stadium, with its intimate seating arrangement brings the fans close to all the action, and has been rated as one of the top ten venues in the United States in which to view soccer. The national teams from such countries as Brazil, Denmark, China, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala, as well as Team USA have played international matches in our stadium to rave reviews. The stadium is also used to showcase premier high and middle school sporting events including: the boys and girls State High School Soccer Championships, Broward County's All-star Football game, high school boy's and girl's All-star Soccer Games and the county's middle school soccer championships. So which is your favorite?

Miami FC will play another season!

According to the Miami Herald South Florida fans can rejoice as Brazil-based owners of the team, Traffic Sports, will announce today that they have decided to continue playing in USL. A source indicated that the three-year-old club had enough support to stay afloat. Traffic president Julio Mariz was satisfied with the response and has decided to play the 2009 season as scheduled.

The Stadium where Miami FC will play has still not been decided but Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale might host some games. Other stadiums like FIU, Tropical Park and Ted Hendricks Stadium are other options.

In any case, Miami Fans need to support, follow and bleed "Blue" this year if they want this team to succeed and hopefully one day be part of Major League Soccer.

For those Soccer snobs out there that look down upon USL as a second rate league, read today's paper. There is a "little" team from Puerto Rico that plays in USL that just beat Mexican First Division Team Cruz Azul 2-0 and is one step from the CONCACAF Champions Final! The Islanders and the Montreal Impact went farther then any MLS team this year and clearly demonstrates the competitive level of play in USL.

I don't know about you guys but my happy Miami Soccer fan ass will be at every game this season! Just look for a loud bald guy wearing Blue, holding a scarf in one hand and a beer in the other amongst the Ultras.
Join me! Join the Ultras.

MLS is Evil! A conspiracy against Miami by Burrito, with Video

MLS is ready to start its new season and will soon announce the name of the 2 new teams that will play in the league in 2011 (Probably Portland and Vancouver, whoopee for those putos!).
Burrito can't be happy for them, Burrito is mad! It should have been Miami, pero nos chingaron 'estilo perrito' once again!
Burrito hate MLS! Burrito yells it to the 4 winds!
Why? Here is why... click over highlighted thingies if you no understand Spanglish:

Uno - In 1998, Burrito, (who at time lived in Homestead, Florida) was happy to hear MLS was coming to South Florida. But Burrito think team was going to be in Orange Bowl. Pero they instead put team up in Broward! 50 miles from where Burrito live! Ay Chihuahua! At least we have a team!

Dos - (that mean numbers 2 for you no Espanish espeakers) Burrito take bus and train up to Lockhart Stadium! It take sometimes 2 hours cause Burrito no have moneys to buy car. Burrito used to sneak in to stadium, where a quesadilla with extra queso for the security man was good enough for admission, no problema!

Tree - Burrito do everything for Fusion, like yelling and fighting with opposing fans over which hair products Valderrama used to use and singing with Afusionados until Burrito lose voice but one day Ray Hudson even get mad at Burrito for yelling at player who make wrong pass, Burrito think Ray was going to come up to stand and fight him! ( Pero, Burrito think he can take Ray, mano a mano!)

Cat - (that how you say 4 in French! Meow!)

Sorry, Burrito take break to go eat Taco de ojo! Si, Taco of eye! Okay, where was Burrito? Oh yeah!

V - In 2001 after Miami have best season ever, winning Supporters Shield for best record in MLS, MVP in Alex Pineda Chacon and having attendance go up 50%... MLS decide to close team because stupid owner no have enough money!

That day was the worst feeling in Burrito's history! Los Pinches Putos nos chingaron! All Burrito have was the Miami Fusion! If it wasn't for the Mexican League and mami back in Toluca, Mexico Burrito would have died carnales!

Then 2009 came, almost 8 years later, an eternity for a futbol fan, MLS with Barcelona 'make up this story' they wanted MLS team in Miami. This was only conspiracy by MLS to hurt Miami fans feelings, almost like going to Taco Bell and some puto tell you "is on me ese, no worries, order what you want" and then you say que rico! Gimme #4 (the pinche Stuffed Grilled Burrito con steak!) and then when it's time to get it the homeboy (MLS) say "Sorry you no gonna get it!". What the F@c% MLS!

Will Miami ever have an MLS team? Burrito don't know. But if one day Burrito win Lottery Burrito use all money for team!

So it's like Burritos Mami say: "Orale Burrito, en estos dias dificiles de crisis economica tienes que pensar que todo va a estar bien, aver, come mijito, come tu taquito con carnitas y no te olvides de ponerle chile!" Translation: "Everything gonna be alright"

Now Burrito leave you with video that make him feel better, you watch or Burrito hit you on head with quesadilla!

FIU stadium to host Gold Cup matches July 10

The CONCACAF website has confirmed the Gold Cup will be played in a record 13 different U.S. cities and Miami's FIU stadium will be hosting a double header July 10, 2009.

Qualified countries are: Canada, Mexico and the United States from the North Zone; Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua from Central America; and Jamaica, Grenada, Guadeloupe and Haiti from the Caribbean. The schedule will be announced at a later time.

This is good news for Miami's FIU stadium which was set to host an MLS team in 2010 but the withdrawal of the bid by Barcelona and business man Marcelo Claure put a damper into those plans. Further trouble remains on the soccer front as USL side Miami FC are also said to be threatening to leave the scene. Miami Fans hope this is only a bad dream. It's reassuring to know International soccer will still come to this city

Miami Soccer Fans! Help Miami FC and Support the 24 Hour Soccer-a-Thon this Saturday at 6 pm.

A letter from Pieter Brown to all Miami Soccer Fans!

Ultras,

Our time is running out to save pro soccer in Miami. It is a very real possibility we will not have a local pro soccer team to cheer for. If you do not act now, it will soon be too late.

Miami FC is doing everything they can to save this team. What are you doing?

If you have not already bought your season tickets, do it now. Even if you cannot make every game this season you should still buy them. Think of it as an investment in soccer’s future in this area. Tampa Bay Rowdies are coming into the league next year and maybe Orlando will follow soon after. We will have a great in state rivalry that will make the games more exciting. Let’s be a part of USL’s future.

This weekend will be your last chance to save this team at the 24 Hour Soccer-a-Thon. Kickoff will be at 6 pm Saturday, March 7th finishing at 6 pm Sunday. It will be a fun and exciting event. Don’t miss it. Even if you can’t make the whole 24 hours, you can still be a part of it.

Location: Monsignor Pace High School
15600 NW 32nd Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL 33054; Phone (305) 623-PACE (7223)

Time: Saturday, March 7 at 6 pm thru Sunday March 8 finishing at 6 pm.

Thanks and VAAAAAAMOS MIAMI!
